Avantgarde-Trip-Hop aus Italien: wo Song, Theater und Elektronik zusammenkommen.
Dueventi is an avant-garde trip-hop collective from Italy, moving between IDM, abstract hip hop, contemporary jazz and art rock. Their songs unfold like theatrical pieces, scored by changes of scene rather than verse-chorus structure.
At the core of their sound is a collision of temperatures: cold electronic pulses and drones meeting the warmth of post-rock guitar and trip-hop electric piano. Through it, Meike Clarelli’s voice moves like dense smoke, somewhere between alt-soul and a vocal research that looks to Cathy Berberian and Björk.
That dramaturgical instinct comes directly from the band’s theatrical background: pieces from their catalogue have accompanied productions at Piccolo Teatro di Milano, Centro Dramático Nacional in Madrid, Arena del Sole in Bologna and Gorki Theater in Berlin.
Their debut album How (2020, Murmur Music) was praised by Ondarock (7/10, among the best Italian records of 2020) and Sentireascoltare (7.3, comparisons to Alt-J and The xx), with Rolling Stone Italia premiering the video for “Struggle”. Eleven tracks that move from alt-soul to IDM to jazz-inflected electronics, still the beating heart of Dueventi’s live sets today. The lead single “Last Song” is out now.

Trained at ERT’s Scuola Superiore per Attori and in contemporary/jazz music at Conservatorio Frescobaldi (Ferrara). Over a decade specialising in vocal pedagogy, ethnic singing and psychophonics; founder of La Metralli (Premio Ciampi, targa FIMI, Premio Tenco selection) and director of the intergenerational choir Le Chemin des Femmes.

Composer and multi-instrumentalist bridging Dueventi with major theatre institutions: keyboardist in the Bowie-tribute rock opera Lazarus (dir. Valter Malosti, with Manuel Agnelli), composer for Piccolo Teatro di Milano/ERT (Il Barone Rampante, Il Piccolo Principe), Virginia Raffaele’s Samusà and Lola Arias’ Lingua Madre (Centro Dramático Nacional, Madrid).

Specialises in the digital manipulation of acoustic sound and field recording. Shapes the band’s rhythmic backbone and the fluid, “live DJ-set” quality of their shows.
Filippo Orefice
sax, clarinet, flute · founding member
Jazz sax graduate (Graz), international prize winner (Rostov 2012, Rotary Jazz Award 2016), touring with the Tower Jazz Composer Orchestra across China, Mexico, Russia and Europe. He co-wrote the music for six of How’s eleven tracks.
